When a pupil is struggling with a subject at school, very often the parents/guardians will pay for extra tuition with a tutor! To help the pupil better understand the subject! For whatever reason the pupil is either not getting the gist of the subject, or maybe the subject doesn't come easy to them, who knows why, that's just the way it is!
Driving is the same, it takes different people a different length of time to learn to drive a car, so its pointless exercise saying "Cousin Freddy passed in 10 or 15 hours". Whether they did or didn't pass in 10 or 15 hours is totally irrelevant, Freddy isn't you, just like the person getting extra tuition isn't everybody else!
When we talk about how long it's going to take to learn to drive, what we are really talking about is how much is it going to cost! That’s up to you? - Probably less than your first years insurance?
So how long will it take you? I don't know, I will do my best to teach you the syllabus as quickly as I can, I will match the speed of teaching to the speed you learn, that's the best I can do!
With regards to "I just want to have a go!" - You can if you wish, but not in my car, it's my livelihood, I have a responsibility to make sure my other pupils have a car to learn in and do their tests in!
Lastly, I have a duty of care and responsibility to you and your family members, other road users and also the examiners!
Gaining an ADI badge is certainly not cheap, it doesn't come without a huge amount of study, cost, commitment and indeed responsibility, so there is my answer, who you want to learn with is your choice, how much you want to pay is your choice but please don't expect any instructor to cut corners.
